THE RULE OF LAW IN CHALLENGING TIMES
Title:
The Role of International Organizations in the Prevention of Conflicts and Maintenance of International Peace
Established in 1899 to support the peaceful settlement of disputes between countries, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) has evolved into a modern institution serving both States and private parties. Through arbitration, conciliation, mediation, and fact-finding, it addresses disputes involving borders, investments, contracts, natural resources, and the consequences of armed conflict. By helping parties reach fair and peaceful solutions, the PCA reduces tension, rebuilds trust, and contributes to international peace and cooperation.
The PCA is today more active than ever, with more than 250 cases under administration last year, across a wide variety of different areas and involving different procedures of arbitration, conciliation, fact-finding and mediation.
ELSA Alumni
expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the
Permanent Court of Arbitration
