ELSA Alumni Annual Meeting 2026
 
 

Geopolitical tensions are leading to increased military and digital threats in Europe. After decades of neglecting the defense industry and digital infrastructure, Europe is now building up its military activities at high speed and progressing on digital independence.

But what do these developments mean for the rule of law in the field of expropriation, procurement law, privacy law and other legal fields? What role does dispute resolution play in these times and how can it contribute to safeguarding the rule of law? And to what extent should the rule of law be adhered to, considering the risks and threats we are facing? Will respect for ethical norms shift? What can the legal profession, jurists, lawyers, judges and legal academia do in support?
